New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday accepted the resignation of social welfare minister Raaj Kumar Anand, who had quit the ministry and Aam Aadmi Party almost two months ago. He had contested one of the seats in Delhi as a BSP candidate in May 25 Lok Sabha polls too.
This was the only official duty Kejriwal attended to during his interim bail, which ended on Saturday. The CM was given interim bail to campaign by the Supreme Court on the condition that he would not do any other work. The CM has not allocated Anand's portfolios to any other minister, which means it will automatically be with him. Anand had resigned on April 10, citing 'corruption' in AAP and 'diversion of funds' meant for SC/ST welfare schemes. Kejriwal did not accept his resignation and Anand took up the matter with Saxena.
Anand joined BSP on May 5 and contested as its New Delhi candidate against AAP's Somnath Bharti and BJP's Bansuri Swaraj.
