AFP

Synopsis

A small region in the US has been seeing a massive influx of American citizens, a kind of mass migration that is very unheard of. Here's what is happening in US.

Everyone wants to call someplace 'home' but in this scenario, American residents from states like California, Oregon, and Washington are rapidly moving towards Idaho, which is a comparatively smaller and less active region of the United States, according to a report by Fox News.

Idaho sees a 12% population growth: Reports

According to the Census Bureau, the small state of Idaho has seen a population increase of 12% since 2018, as families, primarily from the West Coast region, including California, Oregon, and Washington undertook a journey to call the Gem State their new home.
However, the families who moved to this new place had their reasons to do so. The people have voiced similar issues that they faced in their previous states including oppressive politics against which they wanted to be left alone in peace. The relaxation and freedom they received over time in Idaho was majorly unseen in California, Washington, or other regions of the West Coast, which helped them make up their minds to migrate elsewhere.

What were some of the primary reasons Americans decided to migrate to Idaho?

Lockdowns, masking requirements, and severe COVID-19 protocols in Portland, Oregon, and Washington had also irked former residents of those areas, says Fox News.
On these terms, Idaho was not very rigid and was one of the first states in the US to approve reopening plans. Moreover, the state also did not have a statewide mask mandate. These flexibilities have left a lasting impact on the minds of those who planned to migrate to 'escape' the 'rigidity' of their previous states.
