The revised boarding sequence will commence with Group 4 passengers. Within this group, those assigned to window seats will have the privilege of boarding first. Subsequently, passengers with middle seats will follow, and lastly, those with aisle seats will proceed to board. Additionally, United Airlines will permit passengers sharing the same economy reservation, such as families, to board together as a group.
United Airlines' new boarding strategy is named 'WILMA', which focuses on organizing passenger boarding based on their seat locations. The changes are scheduled to take effect on October 26 and have been trialed successfully at various domestic sites, including a hub.

WILMA categorizes passengers into three groups: window, middle, and aisle. Passengers assigned to window seats will be the first to board, followed by those with middle seats, and lastly, travelers occupying aisle seats. This method, as determined during testing at both domestic and hub locations, can lead to a time savings of up to two minutes during the boarding process.

Initially, the WILMA plan will be implemented on domestic flights, with potential expansion to certain international flights in the future.
