🌟 From meeting local investors in San Francisco to pitching our story to the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte — this is how our Founder's week unfolded! Last week, Viet Nguyen had a fantastic trip in the US with ScaleNL filled with insightful sessions, engaging discussions with fellow successful entrepreneurs, and much more! It was a great week of learning, connecting and sharing with our West Coast USA 2023 ScaleNL cohort and inspiring people we met in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Silicon Valley. We made friendships, share our beliefs, our ambitions but also our challenges as founders. I am happy that I can represent XLINQ in this cohort. This all was made possible by the great and relentless team of ScaleNL with Michael D., Kaoutar Ashour, Karolina Sawicka, Dorit Roest, Andy Shannon, Janet Bumpas, facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Their level of energy is contagious. I am thankful of this and will not take for granted what they offered to us. We have performed many pitches in front of different investors and met with many people with a entrepreneurial mindset. We were introduced to the Los Angeles Venture Association and the LA community of successful Dutch entrepreneurs, to learn from them why they came to the USA, what difficulties they faced in the beginning of their journey and how they pulled it off in the end. Three of the founders of our cohort had the honour to pitch in front of our Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Micky Adriaansens as well. The Prime Minister praised the ScaleNL team for bringing Dutch founders closer to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Silicon Valley and to dream big. This is not something we, as being Dutch, are really comfortable with, but to innovate on a global scale we have to think big, and even “huge”, as the Prime Minister brought the message with a big smile. Meeting investors and pitching our ideas in front of them and shaping the story of our company sharpens the message and proposition even more. We also had very interesting sessions at Silicon Valley Bank (yes, they are back and fully operational), INSEAD SF, German Accelerator program, Dutch founders in the Valley and local investors from SF and Palo Alto. Looking back on the week I feel privileged and grateful that I have the opportunity to interact with amazing people, refuelling the entrepreneurial battery even more. Already last June we were informed that Supplyfy, the new ING cloud-based platform for Import Finance, had been awarded by Global Finance Magazine as Top Innovation in Trade Finance 2023. However, only on Oct 31, we finally received the actual physical Award. It was my last day at ING and receiving the award on that day couldn’t be a more symbolic way to close this chapter. Thanks again to my team members and all colleagues and partners who made it such a pleasure to work at ING! In the picture I am proudly holding the award together with Viet Nguyen, founder and CEO of XLINQ. XLINQ, SaaS partner of Supplyfy, is a platform to build secure and compliant applications in a fast and reliable way. They started as an ING Venture as well, but are now in the process of becoming a spin-out.
