How to make Tomato Ghee Pepper Rasam at home

​Tomato Ghee Pepper Rasam Recipe​

Made with nutrient-rich tomatoes, this Tomato Ghee Pepper Rasam is good for digestive systemt, skin and immunity. As a rich source of antioxidants, and vital nutrients like vitamin C, E, and beta-carotene tomatoes also help prevent free-radical activity and reduce oxidative stress and hence boost the immune system. ​Ingredients required​

250 gms tomatoes, 1 litre water, salt to taste, 1 tbsp coriander seeds, 1 tbsp black pepper, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp toor dal, 3 dry red chilli, 1 tsp sugar, 2 tbsp ghee, 1 tsp mustard seeds, and 6-8 curry leaves.

​Step 1​

Pressure cook the tomatoes for 3 whistles.

​Step 2​

Grind the tomatoes into a puree and strain the skin to have a smoother puree.

Grind coriander seeds, black pepper, cumin seeds, toor dal, and dry red chilli into a fine powder.

​Step 4​

In a wok, add the puree, some water, salt and sugar as per taste.

​Step 5​

Once it boils, add the ground powder and mix well. Let this come to a boil.

Make a tempering of ghee, mustard seeds, and curry leaves.

Pour it over the boiling Rasam. Serve hot as a soup or enjoy it with steamed rice.
