How to o​pen NPS account and update address using DL through DigiLocker

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has added a new feature of opening the National Pension System (NPS) account using Driving License (DL) through DigiLocker. Another additional feature allows existing NPS subscribers to update their addresses using DL through DigiLocker.
As stated in Circular No. PFRDA/2022/16/SUP CRA/4 dated July 27, 2022; Central Record Keeping Agencies (CRAs) appointed by PFRDA have integrated their system with DigiLocker in order to provide Subscriber Centric Online Services.
According to the PFRDA press release issued on October 18, "As a tribute to 75 Years of India’s Independence Day Celebration and to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, PFRDA is pleased to provide the following additional features through Digi Locker."
1. Account opening using Driving License (DL) issued in DigiLocker.
2. Updating existing address using DL issued in DigiLocker.

Steps for updating existing address in NPS account
Step 1: Go to the NPS account section on the Protean CRA website.
Step 2: Select Update Personal Details under the Demographic Changes tab.
Step 3: Click on Update Address Details and then select through DigiLocker and Driving License under documents.
Step 4: You will be redirected to DigiLocker Website. Log in with your details and give consent for sharing of documents/information with CRA.
Step 5: Allow NPS to access your DigiLocker and issued documents and click on submit.
Step 6: The address as per the DL will be updated in your NPS account.
