Pregnant Deepika Padukone responds to Rana Daggubati's playful jibe 'I can see you are still in character' at Kalki 2898 AD event

Mom-to-be Deepika Padukone made a stunning appearance at the Kalki 2898 AD event, held in Mumbai on Wednesday. Dressed in an elegant black dress, Deepika proudly flaunted her baby bump and mesmerised the audience not only with her beauty but also with her candid discussion about her pregnancy and her role in the much-anticipated sci-fi film.
As she took the stage, introduced by host and fellow actor Rana Daggubati, the atmosphere lightened with humour.Rana playfully noted Deepika's dedication to her role, quipping, "You have been pushed into being a method actor." Deepika, sharing in the jest, responded with a laugh, "I mean, clearly."
In Kalki 2898 AD, Deepika portrays a pregnant character named Sumathi, blending her real-life pregnancy with her on-screen persona. Rana continued to tease, saying, "I can see you are still in character." To this, Deepika, with a gleam in her eye, replied, "I mean, the movie went on for three years, so I thought why not just a few months more?"

Reflecting on her journey while filming, Deepika shared, "It was an incredible experience, a great learning experience. It was a completely new world and I think we went through different phases, discovering what the film was about. It was an incredible experience, both at a personal and professional level."


Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, features a stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Disha Patani. The film is set to hit cinemas on June 27, promising an extraordinary cinematic experience.
