Adani Airports see 7% rise in cargo to 10 lakh metric tonnes; int’l accounts for 65%

NEW DELHI: The seven Adani Group airports have seen cargo movement grow by 7% in FY 24 when it handled 10 lakh metric tonnes of goods. At 6.7 lakh metric tonnes, international cargo grew at 9% with the top commodities being automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, electricals, electronics and engineering goods. While Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata were among the leading destinations for domestic sectors cargo movement, UK, UAE, Germany, Netherlands and US topped international sectors.
“Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) facilitated 10.1 lakh metric tonnes of cargo in FY 2023-24, capturing 30.1% market share.This represents 7% Y-o-Y increase compared to the previous fiscal, when the total cargo tonnage was 9.4 lakh metric tonnes. In FY 24, AAHL’s cargo operations were predominantly international – 65% of the cargo managed was international,” AAHL said in a statement.
The seven operational airports in AAHL portfolio at the moment are at Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangaluru, Guwahati and Jaipur. AAHL CEO Arun Bansal said: “We have been consistently setting new benchmarks for operational efficiency. The cargo terminals have achieved a remarkable milestone, handling over 1 million tonnes this fiscal year. This achievement solidifies our position as key facilitators in both international and domestic airfreight operations in India.”
AAHL was incorporated in 2019 as a 100% subsidiary of Adani Enterprises. With seven operational airports in its portfolio (Navi Mumbai will become operational next March), AAHL accounts for 23% of passenger footfalls and 30% of India’s air cargo traffic.
