1266 arrested for drug-related crimes in 13 months: Tripura CM
Agartala: In a span of 13 months, Tripura has witnessed a significant crackdown on drug-related crimes, with 1266 individuals arrested and 704 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, chief minister Manik Saha said on Thursday.
The govt’s zero-tolerance approach towards drug abuse, illegal trade, and transportation aligns with the nationwide mission of a Drug-Free India, celebrated through the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada from June 12-26.
The Drug-Free India initiative aims to combat misinformation and promote evidence-based prevention, treatment, and care solutions to address the global drug problem.
“Our govt is fully committed to eradicating the drug menace and so the ‘Nasha Mukt Tripura’ campaign was launched in 2018 soon after the BJP-IPFT government came to power. Under Left Font’s rule, a parallel economy was developed based on cannabis cultivation and the trading of different narcotic drugs,” Saha underlined.
