Sr govt official’s wife buys ‘fake’ Kedarnath chopper tickets online
Agra: Suman Mishra, wife of Hathras chief development officer (CDO), Sahitya Prakash Mishra, fell victim to an "online scam" when she booked helicopter tickets for a trip to Kedarnath. Upon arriving at the helipad to board the chopper, she discovered that the tickets were fake.
She thereafter lodged a complaint at Hathras Gate police station. In her complaint, Suman, a resident of CDO-bungalow on Aligarh Road, mentioned that on June 8, she decided to visit Kedarnath with her family.

She searched online and found a contact number claiming to be of an "executive of Himalayan IRCTC Heliyatra service". The individual guaranteed her to and fro helicopter tickets from Guptkashi to Kedarnath helipad for Rs 33,932.
Subsequently, the executive requested for the temple registration confirmation and the family's Aadhaar details. Suman stated after completing the temple registration process, she sent the Aadhaar and other documents. For ticket booking, she asked her son to make the payment, which he did using a mobile app on the account number provided by the executive. Afterwards, the executive, who claimed to be from a govt-authorised agency, sent her the "heli tickets."
However, when the family reached Guptkashi helipad on June 10, the officials present informed them that their tickets were fake. When they tried to contact the person who booked the tickets, he did not pick up their calls.
DSP (Hathras) Ram Pravesh Rai said, “On the basis of the complaint received, an FIR has been registered against an unknown person under section 66-D of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act. The matter is being investigated. The surveillance team is working to identify the accused.”
