Fatal attraction: Man confesses to decapitating woman due to blackmail
Agra: Two days after a woman’s decapitated body was found in a garbage dump, police Sunday arrested a 52-year-old e-rickshaw driver who claimed he had killed his lover as she was demanding money from him, threatening to implicate him in a rape case.
The accused Hazarilal, who hailed from Hathras, had been living in Aligarh for the past 30 years. During interrogation, he told the police that his wife had died years ago.

He worked as an e-rickshaw driver near the railway station and the bus stand in Aligarh, where he became acquainted with Vinesh (45), who resided near the bus stand and worked as a street vendor. Over time, he fell in love with her. According to the accused, Vinesh recently demanded Rs 10,000 from him but as he did not have the money, he refused.
She threatened to implicate him in a rape case and this prompted him to devise a plan to murder her. The accused said he lured Vinesh to his house under the pretext of giving her the money. Once there, he strangled her.
He procured a drum from Rasalganj to conceal the corpse but the body did not fit inside. Consequently, he severed her head with a knife and placed the body in the drum. He then abandoned it in a garbage dump near Charra Adda.
On June 28, Vinesh’s headless body was found. ASP Amrit Jain said her severed head was found from a vacant plot near the accused’s house.
