AGRA: Mathura police arrested six youths traveling in a SUV with fake arms licences from
Jammu and Kashmir during a checking on the Yamuna Expressway at Mant toll plaza.
On Thursday night, when the police team was checking vehicles near the Mant toll plaza on the Yamuna Expressway, they saw a parked car. Upon suspicion, they searched the vehicle and found two company-made pistols and a revolver hidden under the seat.
Police said that around 200 cartridges and fake identify cards of Border Security Force (BSF) and fake driving licences were also recovered from their possession.
DSP Anchal Chauhan said, “Accused Sonu Kumar (28), Raj Kumar (25), Pawan Kumar (27), Raj Dev (42), Roshan (28) and Ajit Rai (28) --residents of Arrah city in Bhojpur district of Bihar--had purchased the three weapons and a large number of cartridges from an arms dealer in Punjab’s Jalandhar using fake arms licenses on Wednesday.”
“Accused Pawan's license was issued from Jammu and Kashmir under the name Umesh, Sonu's under the name Manoj, and Rajkumar's under the name Raju Tiwari. The photos on these licenses were changed through forgery,” DSP added.
A senior official of Mathura police informed that the seized car is registered in the name of Ajit's father Sanjay Rai, who is currently posted in the BSF in Siliguri. Raj Dev has six criminal cases pending against him in Bihar.
SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey said, “The accused men were involved in purchasing of weapons in past on basis of fake documents. FIR has been registered against them under IPC section 420 (cheating), 467 (Forgery of valuable security), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and sections of the Arms act. We are tracing links of the accused. The case is being investigated in detail.”
