Ahmedabad: The special CBI court here allowed four-day custodial interrogation of the chairman of Godhra’s Jay Jalaram Education Trust, Dixit Patel. Sources said that after arresting Patel in Anand on Sunday, a CBI team took him to the Godhra court, which had on Saturday granted further remand to four co-accused who were arrested earlier. However, the court refused to entertain the CBI’s plea regarding producing the new detainee to request for his custodial interrogation citing jurisdiction.
This led the CBI sleuths to bring Patel to Ahmedabad late evening on Sunday and produce him before special CBI judge M R Chaudhary at the Circuit House.
The agency requested for his seven-day remand citing various grounds, mainly to find out the larger conspiracy behind the malpractice in the NEET held in Godhra and whether those arrested her have any connection with the accused .tnn
