GANDHINAGAR: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel and top state administration officials visited the Hare Krishna Sarovar project site at Kumbarkha village in Banaskantha’s Suigam taluka on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the CM assured that as long as Narendra Modi is PM, there will be no shortage of funds for development projects.
The construction of the Hare Krishna Sarovar will raise the water table in surrounding areas and address the irrigation challenges faced by the local population, the CM said.
Patel was accompanied by Padma Shri awardee Savji Dholakia, as he inspected the site and reviewed progress of work.
The CM expressed optimism that the lake’s construction will not only irrigate 1,500 acres but also develop the area as a tourist destination soon. Assembly speaker Shankar Chaudhary thanked govt for choosing Suigam taluka for the project and added that the lake will provide water to seven surrounding villages while contributing to the development of the local ecosystem. Govt is building the Hare Krishna Sarovar over 30 hectares in collaboration with the Savji Dholakia Foundation and the local population. An official statement said villagers have contributed Rs 16 lakh for the project, which is expected to cost Rs 4 crore.
