TIRUPATI: The Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple at T Nagar, the commercial hub of Chennai, has emerged as the highest revenue clocking TTD temple in the country, standing only second to the iconic Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple at Tirumala.
This temple located on the Venkat Narayana road in T Nagar is also considered the busiest among the TTD temples located outside Tirupati, as it attracts a huge turnout of devotees every single day.
While not less than 5000-8000 devotees visit this temple during the weekdays, on weekends and festival occasions, this rush swells upto 10000-20000 devotees a day.
According to the TTD's Tamil Nadu and Puducherry local advisory committee president AJ Sekhar, the revenue collections registered at the T Nagar temple in the form of cash, cheques gold and other precious metals, laddu sale proceeds etc, account for Rs.22.77 crore for the financial year 2023-2024, which is the highest revenue reported ever in the history of this temple.
What's more fascinating about the T Nagar temple is the fact that while even at most of the TTD temples located across the country, the expenditure is on the higher side when compared to the revenue reported at many temples, T Nagar temple's expenditure for the recently concluded financial year was Rs.2.99 cr vis-a-vis it's revenue that stood at Rs.22.77 crore.
Sriram Parthasarathy and his wife Geetha Parthasarathy, a devotee couple who visit the T Nagar temple almost everyday, told TOI that the the local advisory committee, observed that the local advisory committee led by its president AJ Sekhar, have always been at the forefront when it comes to providing the best darshan experience or in terms of providing various other temple services linked to Tirumala such as the distribution of Tirupati Laddu prasadams at the T Nagar temple or facilitating the darshan tickets booking for a darshan at the Tirumala temple through a counter set up here at the T Nagar temple.

Venkata Subramanyam and Murugesan, members of the TTD's Tamil Nadu and Puducherry local advisory committee, observed that the temple administration expenditure is almost nil for this temple because all the LAC members led by their president AJ Sekhar, vowed to take care of the entire temple expenditure, right from the first seva "Suprabatham" till the closure of the temple after Ekanta seva with donors support. "Other than the salaries and the monthly electricity charges, every other expenditure incurred by the temple whether to procure flowers, fruits, garlands etc are all met with the donor devotees support.
"Our idea is that when all other expenditure is taken care by the donors, TTD can focus it's attention on various other key responsibilities such as spearheading the propagation of the Hindu Santhana Dharma and the glory of Lord Venkateswara by constructing more temples across the country", observed Venkata Subramanyam.
