NEW DELHI: A case of alleged sexual abuse against JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation, according to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara. The incident involves accusations from a party worker, leading to Revanna's arrest on charges including "unnatural offences."
Suraj Revanna, the brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna who faces his own allegations of sexual misconduct, was taken into custody in Hassan on charges connected to the alleged abuse of a male party worker.
He was booked under several sections of the IPC, including "unnatural offences."
"The case registered in Hassan District Holenarasipura Rural Police Station under sections 377, 342, 506, 34 IPC is transferred to CID for further investigation with immediate effect. The case file should be handed over to CID for further investigation, forthwith," stated an official message from the office of the Director General and Inspector General of Police to the Director General of Police CID and the Superintendent of Police in Hassan.
The directive instructed the Superintendent of Police in Hassan district to send the case file and the involved Investigation Officer personally to hand over to the CID Investigation Officer.
The Director General of Police, CID (Special Units and Economic Offences), based in Bengaluru, has been asked to arrange for further investigation and submit a detailed report upon the case's conclusion.
Speaking to reporters, Home Minister Parameshwara explained, "Following the complaint, police have registered an FIR, they have secured Suraj Revanna and the inquiry is ongoing."
He continued, "The case is being handed over to the CID. A series of similar cases were given to CID; this is also being given to CID."

Regarding Suraj Revanna's own complaint, he said, "Whatever action needs to be taken on that, will be taken."
Suraj Revanna has alleged a conspiracy against his family. Addressing this, Parameshwara said, "Complaint has come. Based on it, whatever action needs to be taken in accordance with law, is being taken. Other than that, I don't know about any political conspiracy that he has alleged."
Suraj was questioned overnight at the Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) crime police station in Hassan before being arrested. He was later taken to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) for medical examination.
The case arose when a 27-year-old man filed a complaint alleging that Suraj Revanna, the eldest son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna, sexually abused him at his farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16. Holenarasipura police then registered a case against the JD(S) MLC under IPC Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 506 (criminal intimidation) late on Saturday evening.
However, Suraj Revanna, the grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and nephew of Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, has categorically refuted the charges. He alleged that the man filed a false complaint to extort Rs 5 crore from him.
On Friday, police registered a case of extortion against the JD(S) worker following a complaint by Suraj Revanna's close aide Shivakumar. Shivakumar claimed that the party worker was attempting to extort money by threatening to lodge a false case of sexual assault against Suraj. It was alleged that the man initially demanded Rs 5 crore, which was later reduced to Rs 2 crore.
Suraj's brother, former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, is currently in police custody for allegedly sexually assaulting several women. He was arrested upon his return from Germany last month. Prajwal, who lost the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, was detained on May 31 after returning from Germany, where he had been staying amid rape and intimidation cases against him.
Their parents, H D Revanna and Bhavani, are out on bail concerning an accusation of kidnapping and detaining an alleged victim of Prajwal's sexual assaults.
