BENGALURU: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai reached Delhi on Monday to meet the party's brass to discuss the political situation and preparations for the 2023 polls.
Sources said BJP national chief JP Nadda chaired a closed-door meeting with Bommai, Union minister Prahlad Joshi and other senior leaders.
Union home minister Amit Shah was prsent at the meeting that went late into the night.
They reportedly discussed reservation-related issues, cabinet expansion and assembly poll preparations.
Bommai is under pressure from Panchamasali Lingayats to move them to category 2A from 3B of the OBC reservation matrix. He also has to ensure legal protection for his government's decision to hike SC/ST quota. He said: "We discussed steps to strengthen the party and prepare for Amit Shah's visit on December 30 and PM Narendra Modi's visit to Hubballi-Dharwad on January 12."
Bommai was asked by the brass to ensure justice to deserving communities that are demanding hike in quota. "I will hold an all-party meeting and take a call," he said.
