The Kempegowda International Airport has Lost and Found counters at both terminals, where passengers can report missing belongings. The staff will contact the owner via email and request identification of the item before handing it over. CISF officials often assist airport staff in tracking missing items through CCTV footage, helping to reunite owners with their lost possessions.
In an earlier incident at Bengaluru Airport, a passenger named Rajinder Sachdeva, a 60-year-old automotive spare-parts dealer from Delhi, while returning to Delhi on IndiGo flight 6E 2406, he accidentally left behind a black bag containing Rs 80,000, documents, and ID cards during the pre-departure security check by CISF at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Rajinder only realized his mistake after boarding the flight.
Upon discovering the missing bag, Rajinder's daughter, Kokil Sachdeva, promptly contacted KIA's 'Lost and Found' section and filed a complaint, providing details of the bag and its contents. After Rajinder landed in Delhi, they followed up with the Bengaluru airport authorities, who advised them to register a complaint with the KIA police station to initiate a search using CCTV footage.
Kokil received an email from Bengaluru airport stating that the bag had been found. However, they initially reported that the cash was missing from the bag. Within hours of raising the issue of the lost money, Kokil received another message from KIA's 'Lost and Found' section confirming that the Rs 80,000 was also found intact in her father's bag. Relieved, they informed a family friend, who collected the bag along with the cash from KIA on Sunday.
