BHOPAL: An auto rickshaw driver in Gwalior, has accused the Padav police station and Lear Crime Branch of torturing him during their investigation into a recent jewelry theft case and forcing him to drink urine.
The theft, involving Rs 15 lakh worth of jewelry stolen from a bullion trader's car, occurred on June 17th. Police reportedly linked Deepak Shivhare to the crime based on CCTV footage, which showed his auto near the scene.
Shivhare alleges that despite having no criminal record, the police detained him for questioning, brutally beat him, forced him to drink urine and broke his leg.

He further claims that other auto drivers were also mistreated by the police.
Gwalior SP Dharamveer Singh has ordered an inquiry into his allegations. Police say while some evidence links Shivhare to the theft, nothing is conclusive.
The X-ray reports reportedly show a fracture in Shivhare's leg. Shivhare maintains his innocence, citing his family responsibilities and upcoming family events.
Police have released Shivhare and other auto drivers after filing a case against them under Section 151 (breach of peace). ASP Akhilesh Rainwal is investigating both the theft and the alleged police brutality.
