NEWE DELHI: A 74-year-old former government employee from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Sohanlal Dwivedi, has created a mini-forest of approximately 2,500 bonsai plants on the terrace of his home.
Retired for 16 years from the MP State Electricity Board, Dwivedi has been dedicated to bonsai gardening for the last 40 years. His collection includes 40 varieties of plants and trees, notably 25 from the ficus species, such as peepal and banyan.

"I have been doing bonsai gardening for the last 40 years," Sohanlal Dwivedi told PTI on Tuesday.
Dwivedi uses the Japanese art form of bonsai gardening to cultivate his extensive collection. His passion for travel has contributed to the diversity of his plants, as he often brings back new varieties from his trips and works on growing them as bonsai.
"I have provided training to individuals and officials of the forest department too on how to grow bonsai of various species," he said.
He also offers free information to students in educational institutions on developing bonsai, emphasizing his commitment to sharing his knowledge.
Despite the current heatwave, Dwivedi continues to put effort into maintaining his green terrace oasis.
