The country's first case under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) was registered in Gwalior's Hazira police station regarding a motorcycle theft.
GWALIOR: The country's first case under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) was registered in Gwalior's Hazira police station regarding a motorcycle theft, SP Dharamveer Singh said on Monday.
"We received a complaint regarding a motorcycle theft between 12:05am and 12:10am on July 1 at Hazira," Yadav said, adding that the FIR was registered under Section 303 (5) of the new law.

The complaint was filed by Saurabh Narwariya, who reported the theft of his Yamaha sports bike (M ZM 8723) from outside his house in Maa Peetambara Colony. It was worth around Rs 1.8 lakh, he said.
This case grabbed the limelight when Union home minister Amit Shah said that the first FIR under the new law was not against a street vendor in Delhi but a motorcycle theft in Gwalior.
Out of the first 10 FIRs under BNS in Madhya Pradesh, eight were in Bhopal. The first FIR in Bhopal - for hurling abuses at a man - was registered under section 296 of BNS at Hanumanganj police station at 12:16am.
The second one, registered at 12.20am at Nishatpura police station, was over a complaint of assault and extortion, registered under BNS sections 296, 115(2), 119(1). The third one was registered at 12.22am at Shahjehanabad police station against two men for allegedly creating a ruckus at a public place. The duo was booked under BNS section 194 (2).
