3rd NSA detainee in Punjab byelection race: Daljeet Singh Kalsi to fight from Dera Baba Nanak
CHANDIGARH: A third aide of NSA detainee and MP-elect Amritpal Singh has announced to contest one of the upcoming assembly bypolls in Punjab. Daljeet Singh Kalsi, who has been detained in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail since March last year and is a member of Punjabi film industry, has decided to contest the bypoll from Dera Baba Nanak assembly constituency.

Dera Baba Nanak seat had been vacated by Congress MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, after he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Gurdaspur constituency. Election Commission is yet to announ- ce the bypoll for this constituency, besides Sangrur, Gidderbaha and Chabbewal.
Kalsi’s wife, in a video message on social media on Sunday, said she had met her husband in Dibrugarh jail, where he told her he will contest from Dera Baba Nanak.
She added Dera Baba Nanak is the village of Kalsi’s maternal grandfather. Amritpal won the recent Lok Sabha election from Khadoor Sahib.
After this, NSA detainees Bhagwant Singh alias Pradhan Mantri Bajeke announced to contest from Gidderbaha and Kulwant Singh Rauke from Sangrur.
