CHANDIGARH: After Mental Health Institute-Sector 32 and Chandigarh railway station, it was the turn of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport to receive a bomb threat via an email, allegedly sent by Syrian terrorist organization. The email said, “There are lead azide devices hidden in bags/luggage.” Lead azide is a chemical compound which is used as an explosive.
The bomb threat email was received at the international airport around 5 am wherein it was claimed that two bombs are hidden in bags/luggage. Soon after, the bomb threat committee of CISF headed by P R Mishra, commandant CISF (airport), held a meeting and ordered a search operation at the departure area, SHA and arrival area delpoying a dog squad of CISF.
After searching all the areas, it was declared a non-specific bomb threat mail.
Mishra in a statement later divulged that the bomb threat was a hoax call and the entire airport has been frisked and everything is safe.
Recently, bomb threat letter was received at the office of the station superintendent Chandigarh railway station claiming that LeT will blow up the railway station. Security at the railway station was beefed up and checking was carried out using dog and bomb disposal squads. But, nothing was found.
