Haryana teen shoots sister dead over inter-caste marriage

Kaithal: In a case of alleged honour killing in Haryana’s Kaithal district, a 17-year-old shot his sister dead and critically injured her sister-in-law and mother-in-law.
The boy was apparently angry over her sister’s intercaste love marriage.
After the incident, the accused shot a video narrating the entire incident and uploaded it on Instagram. He then visited a police station and surrendered.
The victim reportedly married a person on Feb 6 against the wishes of her parents.Carrying a pistol, the accused arrived at his sister’s house on a motorcycle and fired at her multiple times and other family members pre- sent in the house.
The injured were rushed to hospital where the 17-year-old was declared dead by doctors. The other two are undergoing treatment.
Officials at Kaithal city police station said the accused had surrendered and an FIR under Sections 302, 307, and 120B of the IPC, under the SC\ST Act and other relevant sections had been registered against him. The accused had arranged the pistol to commit the crime. The matter is being investigated.
