CHANDIGARH: On the directions of chief judicial magistrate, UT, the Chandigarh police have registered a case against five persons for allegedly attempting to shoot an advocate of the Punjab and Haryana high court, almost nine months after the incident. No arrests have been made in the case so far. Notably, the same accused had allegedly tried to kill the advocate in Sirsa, Haryana, and were booked in a separate FIR there.

The FIR was filed against Desh Raj Kamboj, Karanbir Singh Kamboj, Sonam Kamboj, Himanshu Sharma, and Gurmeet Singh under Sections 307, 341, 506, 34, 120-B of the IPC and relevant sections under the Arms Act.
In his complaint, advocate Bhairav Gautam, a resident of Sirsa district, said accompanied by his father and mother, he was exiting the high court in his SUV around 3.30pm on Sept 12 last year. As he stopped his SUV to drink water, a white Creta stopped near his vehicle. Karanbir stepped out of the car and allegedly pointed a pistol at Bhairav. But Bhairav quickly turned his SUV to the left and sped away.
