Chandigarh: Teachers’ body meets MP Manish Tewari over pay demands

Joint Teachers Association met MP Tewari to discuss pay concerns for Samagra Shiksha teachers under the Seventh Pay Commission. They highlighted the need for Dearness Allowance, pending arrears, and salary enhancement for computer teachers, as well as the Education Department's negligence and Central Service Rules implementation issues.

CHANDIGARH: A delegation of the Joint Teachers Association recently met Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari over their demands, which included pay as per the Seventh Pay Commission to newly appointed Samagra Shiksha teachers, Dearness Allowance and pending arrears. The delegation also raised issues of regular salary enhancement of computer teachers and counsellors.
JTA's legal advisor Arvind Rana and general secretary Ajay Sharma said that the demands are 100% justified.
“After the meet, MP Tewari called up higher officials highlighted our problems, due to which we are hopeful that good results will come,” said the members. The delegation said that teachers not getting paid as per Seventh Pay Commission is due to negligence by the Education Department. Members also raised the issue of implementation of Central Service Rules without obtaining consent from teachers. tnn
