Chennai: 21 held with ganja and pain relief tablets

Greater Chennai Police arrested 21 individuals in a drug smuggling crackdown, seizing ganja, pain relief tablets, and cellphones. The accused, including Karthik and Madhankumar, were sent to judicial custody.

CHENNAI: In recent crackdown on drug smuggling, Greater Chennai Police (GCP) arrested 21 individuals for possession of ganja and pain relief tablets within the city limits. A total of 15.8 kg of ganja and 4,184 pain relief tablets were seized.
On June 15, a team from Tondiarpet station arrested four men, including Karthik, 25, and Madhankumar, 19, and confiscated 3,005 Nitrovet tablets and four cellphones.
Similarly, a team from St Thomas Mount arrested Subramani, 48, with 7.5 kg of ganja, a cellphone,and a motorcycle.
Additional arrests were made in Arumbakkam, MKB Nagar, Velachery and Koyambedu.
Police produced 21 accused before a court that sent them to judicial custody.
