CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu govt should take immediate measures to reduce the hardships of people during rain, TMC leader
G K Vasan said on Wednesday.
In a statement, Vasan said flooding caused much inconvenience to people in Chennai during rain. Underpasses and even railway overhead bridges were flooded, he said.
Drinking water was mixed with rainwater in many places.
There was danger as roads and electric equipment were damaged. Roads were flooded, power supply was disrupted and there were traffic jams.
As the IMD has forecast five days of rain in Chennai, the city corporation should take steps to reduce the problems of the people, he said.
Emergency work should be carried out with priority, he said.
