CHENNAI: A Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus retrofitted with CNG-compatible engines caught fire near Adyar on Tuesday afternoon.
Thanks to the alertness of the driver and conductor, all passengers were safely evacuated after they noticed flames emerging from the bottom of the vehicle.
The bus, operating on route number 109 from Parry's Corner to Siruseri, was nearly full when the incident happened on the LB Road.

This bus was one of six CNG and LNG buses recently inaugurated by transport minister S S Sivasankar as part of Tamil Nadu’s green initiatives.
