State appoints 1,000 doctors

CHENNAI: State health department will hold counselling over the weekend for freshly appointed 1,021 doctors for 20 health unit districts, health minister Ma Subramanian said here on Thursday.
From more than 25,000 doctors who wrote the exam conducted by the Medical Services Recruitment Board, 1,021 doctors were selected. An incentive of up to 5 marks were given to doctors who worked for the govt on a contract basis during the pandemic, he said.
This is the first time, counselling is being held for doctors who were just recruited. The posts are vacant only in specific health district. “Candidates must choose from only these areas. They cannot ask for posts in Chennai, Chengalpet or Kancheepuram.”
