Four held for assault
Coimbatore: Four people were arrested on Monday for assaluting a youth at Om Sakthi Nagar in Karamadai.
The arrested men were identified as M Thajudeen, 41, of Ranga Nagar in Karamadai, K Muthukumar, 40, A Vivin, 38, and A Ajmal, 28, all from Mettupalayam.
Police said Thajudeen, an accused in a murder case and recently released from the Coimbatore central prison on parole, was residing with his relatives for the past month.
On Sunday, his nephew K Samsudeen, 27, and other family members fought with Thajudeen for having an affair with the estranged wife of Samsudden’s older brother.
Thajudeen left the house on Sunday night and returned with his three friends around 1am on Monday, and assaulted Samsudeen with a brick, while his friends pelted stones at his residence. Samsudeen was admitted to the Mettupalayam government hospital for treatment.
Based on his complaint, Karamadai police registered a case against the four people under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and section 3 of the TNPPDL Act. All four accused were remanded in judicial custody.TNN
