HC bins CISF cop’s plea against med board order
Cuttack: The Orissa high court has refused to entertain a plea by a CISF constable challenging its medical board’s order which declared him unfit for the post of sub-inspector due to a physical deficiency.
Lalit Kumar, who has been serving as a constable for around six years, was called to appear for the physical verification, physical efficiency test and medical examination after qualifying in the written examination for the post of SI in 2014.

After a detailed examination, Kumar was declared unfit by the medical board for having a “single testis”. Later the CISF medical board also declared him unfit for the post of SI citing the same reason. Kumar challenged the order in the high court in 2014.
While dismissing the petition after a decade, the single-judge bench of Justice S K Panigrahi said, “The petitioner’s selection to the post of constable during the year 2008 has no relevance with the present recruitment to the post of sub-inspector in the year 2013-14. The standards prescribed for the recruitment to the post of constable and the recruitment to the post of sub-inspector are totally different.”
