HC wants info on basic infra in primary schools in public domain
Cuttack: The Orissa high court on Thursday set a six-week deadline for the state govt to place in public domain information on the basic amenities available in schools imparting elementary education in the state.
The two-judge bench of Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh and Justice Savitri Ratho directed the state school & mass education department to provide information on the status of elementary education in the format submitted by amicus curiae Prafulla Kumar Rath and approved by the court.

The bench expected the state govt to collect and collate all requisite and placed in public domain in accordance with the provisions of Rule-8 of the Orissa Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2010.
The directive came while the court was hearing a PIL on elementary schools in the state lacking basic amenities like toilets, potable drinking water, separate class rooms for each class, bench and desk for each student, proper usable blackboards, electric supply, provisions of light and fan and other facilities, apart from a playground.
The High Court Legal Services Committee had registered the PIL suo motu in 2015.
