Woman’s decomposed body found in north Delhi

NEW DELHI: The decomposed body of a 55-year-old woman was discovered at her residence in north Delhi’s Lahori Gate on Thursday. Police said the body was found after neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from her second-floor apartment.
“The body had been lying for probably three days. The woman was unmarried and lived alone. As of now, we haven’t found any evidence suggesting foul play.However, a thorough investigation is still under way,” an officer stated.
“The body has been moved to the mortuary, and procedures under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code have been initiated. This includes interviewing neighbours and relatives to gather any information that may shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death,” the officer added.
DCP(North) Manoj Meena said they were waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the cause of the death. “The body was totally decomposed,” he added.
