NEW DELHI: The next date for conduct of NEET PG is likely to be announced this week. NEET-PG was postponed on Saturday, less than 12 hours before it was scheduled to be held.
NEET-PG, an entrance examination conducted by National Board of Examination (NBE) to determine eligibility for admission to postgraduate medical programmes in govt and private medical colleges across the country, was postponed on Saturday, less than 12 hours before it was scheduled to be held.

NBE president Dr Abhijat Sheth told TOI that they are working closely to ensure that the exam happens soon. "We should be able to decide the exam date by this week," Dr Sheth said.
He expressed regret over the sudden postponement of the NEET PG exam on Sunday for which more than two lakh students have applied this year. "I want to assure students that this has been done as a preventive measure only and to make the process stronger and safe and transparent and secure. At the same time, we are working closely to ensure that this happens soon rather than late," the NBE president said.
Last minute cancellation of the NEET PG exam led to distress among the applicants and several of them criticised the govt for the move. However, in a surprise move, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) - which has more than 3.5 lakh doctors as members - issued a statement on Sunday saying the difficulties endured by NEET PG students are an inevitable corollary of the welcome reforms of the govt and that they hope for the robust mechanism as promised by the govt.

Former president of Healthcare Federation of India and Indian Radiological & Imaging Association Dr Harsh Mahajan also said the postponement of NEET PG exam was a step in the right direction in view of the alleged paper leaks that have happened in the NEET-UG case.
"The entire system needs an overhaul and the govt, by setting up a new committee, has started action towards reform," he said.
