Ghaziabad: Reintroduced last year after being abandoned in 2020, the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) is set to be delayed further as GMC expects work to start only in Sept.
The tender for the project, which involves installing 1,435 cameras at 43 intersections and roundabouts, will open on June 20, officials said on Tuesday.
“The process of opening bids for ITMS project was scheduled to take place three months ago, but due to the election and other exigencies, bids for the project will open on Thursday,” said municipal commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik.

“Once the bidder is selected, we hope that work will start from Sept, and by March next year, the entire ITMS system will become operational,” he added.
The project, funded by the govt under the State City initiative, is expected to cost Rs 55.4 crore. The cost of operation and maintenance of ITMS has been estimated at Rs 14.4 crore, which will also be borne by the state govt.
According to the detailed project report (DPR), pan tilt zoom (PTZ) cameras, red light vehicle detection cameras, public address system, surveillance junction and speed violation cameras will be installed from Hapur Tri-junction to Mohan Nagar, Mohan Nagar to Seemapuri, Tulsi Niketan to Nag Dwar, elevated road to Hapur Chungi, ALT to Meerut Tri-junction, Hapur Chungi to Atma Ram Steels, Old Bus-Stand to Ambedkar Road and Hapur Tri-junction to Lal Kuan.
