Trio fires at man, but stray bullet kills dog
Ghaziabad: A puppy died on Wednesday after a stray bullet hit it while three miscreants opened fire on a man in Indrapuri area of Loni. Two men were arrested on Friday while the third is currently at large.
Police said that the accused are Manish Singh, Mohit Nagar and Shivam. They were drunk at the time of the incident.
ACP (Ankur Vihar) Bhaskar Verma said on Wednesday night, the three youths were drunk and roaming on a bike in the Loni border area.
A resident, Muneesh, called them out for creating a nuisance, following which Singh took out a pistol. Muneesh ran to escape and the three started firing in the air.
“They randomly opened fire on the road where a stray dog was present and the bullet hit its head. The dog died on the spot and the accused fled while again firing in the air,” the ACP said.
The dog’s corpse was sent for autopsy and CCTV footage was scanned. Manish and Mohit were arrested on Friday.
“A team has been formed to nab the third accused. The accused have been booked under IPC sections 336 (rash and negligent acts), 429 (mischief in order to kill animal) and provisions of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The pistol and live cartridges were also recovered,” Verma said.
