Unauthorised GMC vendors get p’yat notice
Panaji: Santa Cruz village panchayat has issued a notice to unauthorised vendors who are conducting business illegally and causing traffic obstructions, including ambulances, at the main entrance of the Goa Medical College, Bambolim. These vendors are allegedly selling fruits and vegetables by encroaching on govt property despite being allotted kiosks in the area.
Till date the panchayat has informed four vendors to stop operations immediately, failing which the items being sold by them would be confiscated.

In Feb, the nodal officer of the super speciality block, GMC had issued a note to its staff asking them to avoid eating at the stalls as they use hospital’s wastewater to cook food that was withdrawn without specifying any reason.
Pratima Coutinho extended her support to the vendors claiming that they were being displaced “unnecessarily”. The vendors said that they are not keen to shift to the allotted kiosks as rival vendors create hurdles and also that they don’t have enough customers.
