Car crashes into canter-truck on KMP Expressway, four of a family die; two injured

Following a fatal collision in Farrukhnagar, a complaint was filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the canter-truck driver. GURGAON: Four people died, and two others suffered severe injuries as a Maruti Ertiga collided with a canter-truck on KMP Expressway in Farrukhnagar on Monday afternoon. The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely shattered.
According to witnesses, both vehicles were travelling in the same direction when the accident occurred.
The driver of the Ertiga was attempting to overtake the canter-truck at high speed, while the latter was trying to exit the expressway. The car driver, unfortunately, failed to react in time and crashed into the truck's rear side. The truck driver is on the run.
After the collision, the car flipped several times before coming to a halt and breaking apart. Among the six family members, four -- Brijesh Kaushik (52), his wife Sunita (48), his mother Kamla Devi (74), and his sister-in-law Kiran Kaushik (46) - lost their lives on the spot, while two others are in critical condition, cops said.
Bystanders quickly rushed to their aid, contacted the police and hailed ambulances. Cops arrived at the spot and immediately transported the passengers to hospital.
The family from Rajasthan's Sikar was on their way back from Garh Ganga after attending the last rites of a relative. They were being followed by relatives in another vehicle. "A preliminary investigation has revealed that the car driver was trying to overtake the canter when it rammed into it and overturned. The injured are undergoing treatment at the govt hospital in Sector 10," said police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar.
A case under sections 106 (death by negligence), 125A (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 281 (rash driving), 324 (5) (mischief causing damage to the amount of one lakh rupees or upwards) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was lodged against the truck driver after a complaint was filed by relatives of the accident victims.
