Bajrangi booked for instigating communal violence again
Gurgaon: Out on bail, Nuh riot accused and cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi, has been booked by Faridabad police for allegedly instigating communal violence . Bittu shared a post on social media, using derogatory words against a community after a priest was attacked at his home late Friday night.
Cops said Bittu intentionally tried to sway the case in the direction of communal discord even though there was no proof yet.
A priest was grievously injured after some youths slit his throat at his residence on Friday night. Ravi’s wife Pushpa, who lodged a complaint at Saran police station, said a group of youths — Mahtab, Golu, Iqbal and Sajid — arrived at their house around 11.45pm and engaged in an argument with the priest. Mahtab then whipped out a knife attacking Ravi as Golu jabbed him with another knife. Pushpa said she, too, suffered injuries trying to save her husband. Before slitting Ravi’s throat, the attackers shouted religious slogans, she alleged.
As Pushpa raised the alarm, their neighbours started to gather around the house, prompting the assailants to flee. Ravi was rushed to Fortis Escort Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.Following the attack on the priest, cow vigilante Bittu called for a congregation near Janta Colony. People blocked Deep Singh Chowk in support of the priest. Police said a team was deployed in the area to prevent a law and order situation.
“Some people are trying to give this incident a religious colour by posting inflammatory content on social media. Police have registered a case and appealed to the public to refrain from sharing provocative posts online,” said police spokesperson Yashpal Singh.
The SHO of Saran police station said, “The priest’s condition is now stable. We are looking for the accused. The attack appears to have been motivated by personal enmity. We will get to know the details only after the assailants are arrested."
