Residents say that stray cattle are frequently spotted rummaging through piles of garbage
GURGAON: Streets in Sector 9A have not been cleaned for over a week, with garbage piling up and horticulture waste rotting on roadsides, residents said.
They alleged that MCG has neglected sanitation services in the area. Twenty sanitation staffers are assigned for the sector, but only 5-6 of them show up for work, leading to accumulation of garbage across streets.

With monsoon’s arrival, rotting garbage will worsen the stench and create health hazard for residents.
“We are living in deplorable conditions. The roads are filthy, and garbage is everywhere. It’s become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other pests. We see only a handful of workers coming in, and even they can’t keep up with the workload,” Rakesh Kapoor, a resident, said.
Sanitation service in the sector has been affected after a new agency was deployed by MCG last year, residents said. Several complaints have been filed by the RWA to MCG, demanding adequate manpower, and regular cleanliness and waste disposal, but there’s not been any improvement.
Last month, Haryana govt declared ‘solid waste exigency’ in the city and formed a six-member committee to oversee implementation of the
Solid Waste Environment Exigency Programme (SWEEP). “Govt has declared a sanitation emergency, but the situation remains very poor. Door to door waste collection service has been hampered while there is no improvement in sweeping despite repeated complaints to MCG. Govt should provide machinery and manpower to RWAs instead of contractors,” said Lalit Suraj Bhola, general secretary of Sector 9A RWA.
Asked about the complaints, senior sanitation inspector Sandeep said he has visited the sector and directed the agency to ensure adequate staff is deployed for the area.
“It is false as we have been clearing garbage from the collection point regularly. There was an issue with door-to-door collection services, but we are working on it,” he said.
