5 of a family killed in Assam landslide

Silchar: Five members of a family died in sleep as a massive landslide buried their house in Assam's Karimganj around midnight on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at Tajurtal village, a hilly region, located 25 km from the Badarpur railway township, following incessant rains in the district. The victims have been identified as Raimunnessa (55), her daughters Saheda (18), Jaheda (16) and Hamida (11), and grandchild Mehedi Hasan (3).Her husband Abdul Karim escaped unhurt as he was sleeping in another room. Police and SDRF promptly initiated a rescue and recovery operation around 12.30am with the help of locals and retrieved the bodies.
