Making efforts to unite warring Chin groups in Myanmar to oust junta: ZoRO
AIZAWL: Aizawl-based Zo Reunification Organisation (ZoRO) has said it is making efforts to bring the warring Chin groups in Chin state of Myanmar to a negotiating table to end fratricidal conflicts while fighting the Myanmar junta regime.
L Ramdinliana Renthlei, secretary of ZoRO, told TOI on Monday that meetings have been held separately with leaders of the Zomi Revolutionary Organisation (ZRO), Chinland Council and Chin National Front (CNF)/Chin National Army (CNA) recently.

"We are yet to hold talks with Chin Brotherhood and hope to meet their leaders soon," Renthlei said.
Chinland Council is the largest umbrella organisation of the anti-coup Chin groups in Chin state and the CNF and its armed wing, CNA, are a part of the Chinland Council. He said ZoRO had held talks with both Chinland Council and CNF pressing for truce with other groups like ZRO and Chin Brotherhood, who are their brothers by blood.
ZRO and its armed wing, Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), are basically outfits of Manipur which have been operating from Myanmar soil. ZRA-Eastern Command was formed in Tedim area, which the Chinland Council and CNF accused of working with the Tatmadaw (Myanmar army) and fighting against the other Chin pro-democratic groups.
The recent fight between CNA-led-14 civil resistance groups combine and the ZRA in Tedim and Tonzang towns in northern Chin state was due to the ZRA-EC cadres ambushing the Chin groups who went there to attack the Tatmadaw camps, CNA spokesperson Htet Ni was quoted as saying.
Renthlei said after separately holding talks with Chinland Council and ZRO, the next step will be to bring the two groups to a negotiating table. He said ZoRO is also planning to hold talks with Chin Brotherhood. "Our main intention is to first bring detente among the brothers in arms in Chin state and if possible to unite them in their struggle to oust the military junta and their political goals," he said. ZoRO is an organisation working for unity of all the ethnic Mizos and will continue to strive for cessation of hostilities between ethnic Mizo brothers and ultimate unity, he added.
