Party high command will decide on continuing KPCC chief: Satish Jarkiholi
Belagavi: Public works minister Satish Jarkiholi stated that the high command will decide whether to continue or discontinue the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chairperson. He said that no discussion has happened so far within the party about this.
Jarkiholi was speaking to media persons at the Congress Bhavan here on Monday. When asked if he is an aspirant for the KPCC chairperson’s post, Jarkiholi mentioned that there are several eligible aspirants for the position.
Meanwhile, he explained that there is no need to attribute a different meaning to his recent meeting with the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) chairman Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi.
“Meeting our party president when we go to New Delhi is common. I also met Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari and discussed the prominent projects in the state,” he said.
Responding to questions about his ambition to become a chief minister, Satish Jarkiholi remarked: “There is time for everything, and we have to wait for that time. Patience is the key to growth in politics.”
He also mentioned that there is nothing wrong with seers making demands in favour of their community. “I have never asked for the deputy CM’s post. If somebody else is talking about it, I cannot do anything about it,” he clarified.
The minister mentioned that he has demanded more seats on boards and corporations for Belagavi district, which is the largest district in the state. “I have already brought this matter to the notice of the CM and deputy CM,” Jarkiholi said.

The minister announced that the state cabinet has already approved the Kanabargi residential layout in Belagavi, and the work will start shortly after calling the tender. “As far as the inauguration of a superspeciality hospital is concerned, I have already discussed it with medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil. The hospital will be commissioned soon by recruiting the required staff,” he assured.
Presently, the Kudachi and Raibag assembly segments have been reserved for scheduled castes. However, due to the delimitation of these assembly constituencies, both may become general seats during the next elections. “We have been making strategies for both seats for the next elections,” he said. MLA Asif Sait and district (rural) president Vinay Navalagatti were present.
