Since then, the woman along with her four-year-old daughter were staying with her parents at Sultanpur village and they together made a living by cultivating their land.

Meanwhile, the deceased would frequently abuse their daughter for being a burden on them and harassed her. Often, he would come home drunk heavily and abuse his wife and their daughter, police officials said.

On Wednesday too, he came home drunk and picked up a quarrel with his daughter and also misbehaved with her. The woman and her daughter resisted his advances, but the deceased went ahead and continued misbehaving with their daughter and this went on till midnight.

Reportedly fed up of this abuse and torture, his wife picked up an axe and attacked him repeatedly, killing him on the spot. Alerted by locals, police rushed to the spot and started a probe.

A murder case was registered at the Pulkal police station against the woman. "The accused is being questioned," Jogipet circle inspector D Anil Kumar said, adding that their daughter's role, if any, would also be investigated.
