Close shave for techies as bus goes up in flames on ORR
The passengers were evacuated when the driver noticed smoke coming out of the engine.
HYDERABAD: A private minibus plying on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) caught fire on Monday morning. The passengers, all IT professionals, managed to escape unhurt. According to officials of the fire department, the engine of the bus caught fire. The bus was ferrying ten passengers at the time of the incident.
“The bus was travelling from Vanasthalipuram to DLF area in Gachibowli when the incident occurred.
The driver noticed the smoke and stopped the vehicle near Exit No 1 of the ORR near Financial District,” said station fire officer T Jagan Mohan. “The bus was evacuated immediately and no casualties were reported,” the officer added. A fire tender was called in to douse to flames. The property damaged as the result of the fire is estimated to be around Rs 9 lakh.
