Photos: World's first 3D printed temple

Hyderabad-based Apsuja Infratech in collaboration with additive manufacturing solutions provider Simpliforge Creations has built the 3D printed temple in Burugupally, in Telangana's Siddipet.

The temple is acclaimed as the first 3D printed structure of its kind globally, showcasing the innovative use of technology in religious architecture. The entire 3D printing process took approximately three month.

The three-part structure covers an area of 4,000 square feet and stands at a height of 35.5 feet. It comprises three sanctums, each dedicated to a different deity – Lord Ganesha, Lord Shankar, and Goddess Parvati.

Simpliforge conducted on-site 3D printing of the three gopurams and sanctums at its robotics construction facility, showcasing cutting-edge technology. The remaining structures like pillars, slabs and flooring were built using conventional construction techniques.

Simpliforge utilized an in-house developed 3D printing system, emphasizing their expertise and capability in developing advanced additive manufacturing technology.

The chief operating officer of Simpliforge, Amit Ghule, highlighted the temple as a proof-of-concept with potential applications in challenging terrains such as frontiers, high-altitude areas, deserts, snowy regions, disaster-hit areas, and defense, showcasing the versatility and adaptability of their 3D printing systems.
