HYDERABAD: An exercise of preparation of electoral rolls is going at a brisk pace in all eight civilian wards in
Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB).
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) had issued orders to SCB's chief executive officer of Secunderabad Cantonment to revive the process of electoral rolls in the ensuing cantonment board elections to be held in all 58 cantonments in the country.
In fact, the MoD had put on hold the electoral rolls in July 2020 in the view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Out of the eight civilian wards, the electoral rolls have been completed in five wards.
At present, the staffers of its election wing staff are visiting door-to-door in ward 6 of the cantonment board, election wing in-charge Parusram told TOI.
The staff who are in the field are following Covid-19 norms while contacting the applicants, he said.
We have targeted to complete the electoral roll process by the end of this month and we are ensuring to publish the final electoral roll by April 30, said the official.
