HYDERABAD: A woman was allegedly strangled by her mother-in-law after she refused to make tea for her in Attapur on Thursday. The accused woman, who is absconding, used a chunni to strangulate the victim, police said.
Police said on Thursday night around 10.15 pm the victim, Ajmeera Begum (28), was told by her mother-in-law Farzana Begum to make tea.
However, Ajmeera told Farzana that she was busy with other work and declined to make tea.
When Farzana did not get tea even after waiting for some time, an argument broke out between the two and, subsequently, she pushed Ajmeera down and strangulated her, cops said.
Alerted by locals, police reached the spot, but by then Farzana had left the house.
At the time of the incident Ajmeera’s husband Abbas, their two children and father-in-law were not at home. The couple had married in 2015, police said.
Prima facie probe by Attapur police indicated that there were disputes for quite some time which had boiled over after the row over tea, resulting in the murder. Cops have booked a case and are hunting for Farzana. tnn
