Indore: The forensic department has asked for 116 mobile forensic vans equipped with kits and cameras, which would aid investigations. The officials will be able to conduct primary tests on the spot.
Director of state forensic department Shashikant Shukla said, “We have asked for 116 mobile forensic vans of which 57 will be given by the Union government and 59 by state government.”
He said that the vehicle will help in reaching the crime scene at the earliest to assist investigating officers in identifying and collecting relevant forensic evidence from the crime scene, victims and suspects.
The vehicle was launched by Gujarat Forensic Science University recently and is being used in Delhi, Mumbai and Gandhinagar.
The vehicle is equipped with modern amenities to undertake spot tests in laboratory environments at the crime scene itself. It has all the facilities to assist investigating officers in packing the collected forensic evidence
It also has the facility to sketch and take photographs of the crime scene both in still and video modes.
The vehicle has all the latest forensic tools and kits along with the special multi-tunable light source, which has eight different wavelengths thereby enhancing detection capabilities of latent fingerprints, body fluids, hair and fibers, gunshot residues/prints, narcotics drugs etc.
Crime scene investigation kit, which contains spray making paint, UV lights, digital distance measuring device, molded plastic evidence container, scalpel gloves etc.
